Noteable Notebooks

Do you keep a notebook? I find them the perfect place for jotting down to do lists, recipes, notes to myself and contact details.

Here are my pick of some fun notebooks for Spring- perfect for putting in your handbag and jotting down ideas as you sip on a coffee, taking to playgroup to jot down another mum's phone number, or to doodle in as you wait at the doctor.

Noteable Notebooks

I would love to know your favourite- what do you keep in your notebooks?

Virtual Book Club For Kids (Margaret Wise Brown)

This month we are featuring Margaret Wise Brown for the Virtual Book Club!

Lucas has really been enjoying the story of The Runaway Bunny, and with Easter coming up I decided this would be the perfect time to do a bunny themed activity.

We made our own rabbit masks out of a few household items.

You will need:
Rabbit face template (we used a template from Usborne Activities: Easter Things to Make and Do)
Brown, white and pink cardstock
Pipe cleaner cut into four equal lengths
Elastic
Glue
Small hole punch

We started by gluing the ears onto the template.

Next up was placing the nose and whiskers.

Cut a slit in the middle of the template up to the nose. This will allow the mask to stretch and fit over your child's face a lot easier.

Place two small holes on either side of the mask, and thread some elastic through.

My boys were thrilled with their bunny masks!

They had to test out how well they could hop as bunnies, and so a lot of jumping around the dining room was in order- the masks brought out their inner rabbit! They both looked adorable and loved having their very own masks.

Spring Week

Our theme for the last week has been Spring, which meant we could take advantage of the lovely weather and learn about this season at the same time.

We had great fun making giant pinwheel daffodils.

Lucas and Adam completed the Spring Fling worksheet and especially loved graphing the dice roll.

On the way home from preschool we did a Spring scavenger hunt and manged to cross everything off the list except for a rainbow and a kite. It made the walk home a lot more fun and got the boys involved in helping each other to spot things on the list.

Lucas drew me a hedgehog during colouring time.

We went outside and collected lots of leaves to look at. Once we had decided on our favourite leaves, we made leaf rubbings and admired the pretty patterns.

On Wednesday we made cookies- we couldn't decide if they were ladybugs or toadstools, but either way they reminded us of Spring. We made a simple shortbread base, then used raspberry flavoured ready roll icing and chocolate drops to decorate. The boys were very good at taking turns with the circle cookie cutter, and Lucas had an impromptu maths lesson when he was weighing out the ingredients.

Of course, the best part of Spring is being outside, so we made plenty of time to enjoy the sunshine.

Next week, we will be sharing the Poppins Book Nook activities, and then it will be our Halloween week!

Spring Papercraft Sampler

It just occurred to me that I have not shared my Spring papercraft sampler with you yet.

This is one of my favourite ones yet, with the umbrellas, birds and varying flowers. I also love my sheep stamp!

The outer white cardstock is 12x12, with the patterned paper at 11x11 and the green cardstock at 10.5x10.5 inches. The inner white squares are 2.5x2.5, with the coloured squares at 2.25x 2.25 inches.

The colour scheme was blues, yellows and greens with a little bit of pink and purple thrown in. Here is a close up of each quarter.

Here is is in my entryway.

This Spring themed 12x12 piece is the latest addition to my samplers, so I now have one for each season as well as ones for special occasions like Christmas. I am debating whether or not to do a Halloween one, what do you think?

By the way, don't forget to enter my birthday week giveaway!
