LBD Good as Gold

Time for another LBD styling challenge!

This week the theme is "Good As Gold". I was browsing Polyvore to create this set when my four year old son sneaked out of bed, saw some gold shoes and told me I needed something with Batman. So this week's style showcase was created with the help of Lucas.

As a stay at home mum, some days I feel like I need superpowers! Batman is a favourite in our household, so starting the day off by putting on Batman underwear is sure to make a difference. Some Batman coffee and cheerful yellow shoes will keep me smiling, and the Batman necklace and purse get the thumbs up from my boys.

May Triple Threat- Floral

may floral triple threat

Welcome to May's triple threat- Florals! I am excited to be joining in as a co-host after finding these wonderful ladies last month in the blog world.  I can't wait to see everyone's beautiful Spring Florals!  The linkup is open for a week so be sure to get your looks ready and share them with everyone.

Carrie and I must be style twins, as we both paired a floral sleeveless blouse with mint skinnies!

Blouses are great for experimenting with patterns, colours and textures. I find with florals that if you are going for a bold pattern, a lot of people think they have to wear black to balance the look out. I am discovering that is OK to wear a statement colour with florals, and it brings a whole new look to an outfit.

Black flats go with everything, and they pull this outfit together. Add some black pumps and dangly earrings and this look can go from day to night very quickly. In this cooler weather, a blazer over top of the blouse works well- and is needed here in New Zealand at the moment!

I am also sharing this look over at wardrobe Wednesday.

Won’t you please link up with us? The rules are simple! Visit and follow justjacq and this month’s cohosts, Carrie and Lauren, add the button or a link back to this post and add your link! The link up is open all week so you have plenty of time to share your looks! Link up and grab button at the bottom of the post :-) Cohosts are always needed! June's link up will take place on June 12 and we still need a theme! Email thejustjacq@gmail.com if you're interested!

What's Cooking Wednesday #11

Remember my glut of beetroot? I am still getting through it, and turned to the trusty Edmonds Cookbook for a recipe for some chutney. My mum lent me all of her preserving and bottling jars, and I got to work.

I modified the recipe in the Edmonds Cookbook to inlcude some orange, as I remember reading about a Beetroot and Orange chutney and thought it sounded delicious.

Beetroot and Orange Chutney
adapted from Edmonds Cookbook

1kg beetroot
2 1/2 cups DYC malt vinegar
1 tablespoon salt
2 cups sugar
1 orange, zested
1 teaspoon ground allspice
1 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 cup plain flour
1/2 cup DYC malt vinegar

Boil unpeeled beetroot in a larhe pot for 40 minutesd or until skin slips off easily. Finely chop the beetroot and put back into the pot with the first mixture of vinegar. Add the orange zest, salt, sugar, allspice, pepper and ginger. Boil for 25 minutes, stirring occasionally. Mix flour and second mixture of vinegar to a smooth paste. Stir into pan and boil for 5 minutes. Pour into sterilized jars.

The verdict:
I got two large jars from this recipe, but it depends entirely on the size of your jars. This recipe can double or triple easily. We have already gone through one of the jars and had to make a second batch of four jars! It is delicious with cold meats, in sandwiches, and mixed with cream cheese and put in a wrap.

I made my own labels using my CTMH supplies: Jubilee Fabric and Made From Scratch stamp set.

Sweet Baby

My friend recently had a sweet baby girl, and I made a card to go with her present. I loved getting newborn baby snuggles!

I used some polka dot gold vellum, wooden shapes, a Christmas project life card and some stamps and fussy cutting to bring this card together.

The card was inspired by three challenges this week.

Curtain Call

Just Add Ink

and Fusion- here I used the photo and the sketch.

I hope you can see the different elements from each challenge that inspired me to come up with this card.
Thanks for stopping by today!

Supplies used:
Becky Higgins: Project Life- Merry & Bright Edition
Close To My Heart: Cotton Candy cardstock, White Daisy cardstock, Free To Be Me Vellum, Wooden Trinket Shapes, Tombow Adhesive, Micro-Tip Scissors
Stampin Up: Itty Bitty Banners
