Shop What You Got Week Two Review

iCurvy World

It's that time of the week where I share my outfits from the Shop What You Got Challenge!

Day 8 was full of birthday celebrations for family members, so I needed a simple party outfit. I ended up wearing Elegant Pink and Black Ruffle Dress (Sammydress) and High heeled Ruched Shoes with Ankle Strap (Wild Pair).

Day 9 wearing my birthday necklace with Aqua Basic Slub Tee (Pagani) and Basic Black Jeans (Pagani). I haven't been into pagani for ages but splurged after my birthday and discovered that it is still one of my favourite shops! Shoes are my Puma Sports flats.

Day 10 was spent hanging out at home, and so I needed something casual and comfortable. I wore some Black Studded Sandals (Number One Shoes) with a Stripe Panel Tee Shirt from overseas and my JayJays denim shorts.

Day 11 was a beautiful sunny day so I pulled out this Maxi Dress (Sammydress) and paired it with my Miley Sandals (Number One Shoes). These sandlas are on special this weekend for half price and come in black or tan- well worth getting a pair in each colour!

The cooler weather came back for day 12 and so I paired my  Basic Black Jeans (Pagani) with this Striped Chiffon Blouse (Sammydress) and a Cord Jacket from Sportsgirl.

Day 13 is my budget bargain of the week, with these items coming in at $7.50 for the whole outfit! I picked up the jacket, top and jeans at a clothes swap where there was a $4 entry fee, and the necklace was $2.50 at Pagani. The shoes were a birthday gift two years ago.

Day 14-A Public Holiday here today, so we are off to ride miniature trains and have icecream. Due to safety regulations on the trains I have to wear closed toe shoes, but I still pulled out my patterned pants for Printed Pants Friday!

Day 13 was my favourite look of the week. Can you tell I love wearing flats? I really should get some wedges for summer, but I am not purchasing anything this month and had already picked these shoes. I walk about 5 kilometres most days and so heels aren't practical for my day-to-day lifestyle, but I did enjoy the chance to wear heels with my party dress.

Shop What You Got 2014

This November, I am linking up with Jo from ICurvy to take part in the Shop What You Got Challenge.

iCurvy World

The idea is to choose 30 pieces from your wardrobe and use these to create outfits for the whole of November. This includes shoes but excludes underwear and accessories. It also excludes rainwear, gymwear and pajamas.

I am unfortunately starting a day late as my youngest son has been very sick and I was in and out of the observation unit as well as overnight, meaning I only had the clothes I was wearing! Luckily he is back to his usual self and I can begin this challenge.

I do have three birthday celebrations and a wedding coming up in November, as well as four business events, so I kept this in mind when choosing my pieces. There is a mix of dressy, business and casual but these items can all be dressed up and down.

Here are the pieces I have picked to see me through the next thirty days. If these are current market pieces then I have included a link, but a lot of these have been in my closet for a while and I am hoping to breathe new life into them!

Dresses.

Daisy Jacquard Dress with Belt (Farmers), Striped Chiffon Sundress, (SammydressLayla Sixties Floral Mini Dress, (BoohooAshanti Fit and Flare Dress, (Cotton OnElegant Pink and Black Sleeveless Dress (Sammydress).

Jackets and long sleeved items.

Lace Front Cream Jersey (UCW), Brown Cord Jacket (Sportsgirl), Blue Crop Jacket (Glassons), Faux Leather Long Sleeved Top (Decjuba),  Black Drape Bolero (Blue Illusion).

Pants.

Rinsewash Skinny Leg Jeans (JayJays), Crop Denim Capri (Farmers), Indiana Drapey Pant (Cotton On), Limited Edition Grey Always Skinny Jeans (GAP), Basic Black Jeans (Pagani).

Skirts and shorts.

Denim Shorts (JayJays), Beige Ruffle Skirt (Glassons), Tie Back Drop Hem Black Skirt (Max), Paisley Print Skater Skirt (Paper Scissors).

T-shirts.

Stripe Panel T-shirt (Marks and Spencer), Navy sleeveless blouse (Paper Scissors), Striped Chiffon Blouse (Sammydress), White Layered Tunic Top with Chiffon Panels (UCW), Aqua Basic Slub Tee (Pagani), Black Basic Slub Tee (Pagani).

Shoes.

Miley Tan Sandals (Number One Shoes), Julia Blue Sandals (Number One Shoes), Black Studded Sandals (Number One Shoes), Black Sports Flats (Puma), High Heeled Ruched Shoes with Ankle Strap (Wild Pair).

Please note that these items do not include a black and white camisole, as I count them as underwear. Some of my tops are sheer so I will need to wear a camisole under these items. The maxi dress also came with a slip dress, so I count that as one item as the maxi dress by itself is also sheer.

Join me over the next month t see how I am getting on- I will be posting my week in review each Friday and linking up with ICurvy.

A Frocktober Weekend

This weekend has been so busy, with my primary school Jubilee taking place. Since I was on the committee, it has meant a few late nights and so my blogging had taken a back seat.

Here are my Frocktober looks for Friday, Saturday and Sunday (today).

On Friday, I had the school Mix and Mingle with fellow students and past teachers. I wore a dress from Max that is a couple of years old, but still on trend thanks to the monochrome print. I wore black lace flats since this was a standing event, and paired it with a light cardigan.

Saturday night was the Jubilee dinner, and I wore my Sammydress Pink Ruffle Dress paired with black pumps and a pink snakeskin clutch.

Today I am in my trusty navy dress, with a navy waterfall cardigan and navy flats. There is a pop of jade from my camisole underneath. I am featuring this outfit in the Fashionomics Friday link up, as the entire outfit was free. The dress, cardigan and camisole were clothes swap finds, the shoes were a birthday present, and the necklace was gifted to me.

Taking a Tunic from Day to Night

One of my favourite pieces to wear is my navy tie back tunic. You can see how I have previously styled it here, here and here .

I get a lot of wear from items in my closet as I cannot justify spending a lot of my budget on new clothes. Today I wanted to share with you how I take this item from day to night with a few simple steps.

My day look consisted of this tunic with denim capris, gold jewellery, minimal makeup and some leopard print flats. This outfit was worn to a four year old's birthday party.

When I got home, I had 20 minutes to get ready to go out for dinner and a concert. I tied the tunic at the back then I added some fun patterned pants,a cropped jacket and some heels to my outfit. I also put on some more makeup and did my hair up in a messy bun.

It took me a minimal amount of time to transform my outfit, and I felt comfortable in both looks. Which is your favourite?

I really appreciate clothes than can go easily from day to night, or children's events to more adult socialising!

It's Frocktober!

It is October 1st, and Frocktober has officially kicked off!

Each day in October I will be wearing a different dress, and featuring it here. Some of my dresses have important stories behind them, others are ones I have never worn, and some dresses are hugely sentimental.

To start off, here is a navy wrap dress I am wearing today with navy flats and blue jewelry. Navy is one of my favourite colours, and the wrap style of this dress is so comfy!

This dress was given to me by my sister, as we tend to swap clothes a lot when we clear out our closets. The shoes were also a birthday present, so this outfit is comfortable and cheap!

Frocktober is all about raising awareness and funds for ovarian cancer research, something that is quite near to me. I will be sharing my stories about this later in the month, but for now I encourage you to participate by donning a dress, sponsoring me here or holding your own Frocktail party or afternoon tea to raise funds. For more ideas and details on how to raise funds during October, please click here.
